A very wet morning across southern Scotland, Northern Ireland, north west England, Wales and south west England. Dry for northern Scotland with lighter rain for southern England this morning. For the afternoon an area of heavy rain will then spread across southern and central parts of England along with Wales with light rain across Northern Ireland and southern Scotland and northern England. Expect highs of 6 to 10C in the north and a milder 10 to 14C in the south.
Saturday Night
Mainly dry for south west England this evening. Further heavy spells of rain will affect Wales, the Midlands and eastern parts of England. Heavy rain is expected to persist across much of England and Wales overnight as well with light rain for Northern Ireland. Drier for Scotland with clearing skies and turning colder as high pressure builds south. Expect lows at 1 to 3C for Scotland otherwise 6 to 9C.

A cold north east wind will be developing across Britain today as high pressure in the north continues to build southward. Rain is to persist across England and Wales in the morning but tends to clear from Wales and south west England by the afternoon then it clears the rest of England late in the afternoon. To the north it looks dry with sunny spells though more cloud will affect eastern coasts. A brisk north wind will prevail across Britain tonight with a risk of snow showers for north east Scotland. For the rest of the country it's dry, clear and cold with a touch of frost in sheltered location in the west. Expect highs of 5 to 10C.

Breezy and cold across the country today with a risk of some rain and sleet near the eastern coasts of Scotland and north east England with snow showers for eastern Scotland. For the rest of the United Kingdom it's a dry day with long sunny spells though more cloud may affect eastern coasts of England. Further sleety spells of rain may affect North Sea coasts into the evening and night. Central and western areas will be cold and clear with a widespread frost likely to develop overnight. Highs today of 5 to 10C north to south but feeling much colder in the brisk north east wind.
