Fair, sunny spells Colder later seiten=4 abk=focus

Tuesday
An east-west split across the country today. High pressure is to the west and this is going to bring a cold start to the day, with a widespread frost. There will be some good spells of sunshine through this morning, the best of these across the Midlands, Wales and southern Ireland. Thicker cloud for the north and east of Scotland, as well as northeast England, with the risk of a few spots of drizzle on the coasts. Cloud is likely to be increasing more generally during the later part of this morning and into this afternoon leading to much of the country having a rather cloudy end to the day. Most places will be dry, but there is still the threat of some drizzle along those eastern coasts of Scotland and England. The best of the sunshine reserved for western Wales and southwest England. Quite a cool feel to the day at 5 to 8C.

Tuesday Night
Still some spots of drizzle around in the east at first tonight, and this could actually turn a little more persistent for a time this evening, although still remaining light. There will be a tendency for the cloud to melt away from many inland areas, leaving clear skies and another cold night. For Wales and western parts of England the night is going to be dry and probably fairly clear throughout. A widespread frost is likely to form under the clear skies, lows at 0 to -2C, but holding up to just above freezing on eastern coasts.

Wednesday
High pressure is still close by today, but is starting to become eroded from the north. There will probably be more cloud around through Wednesday than on previous days. The morning sees some more persistent outbreaks of rain affecting the north and west of Scotland. patchier drizzle over the northern Pennines and perhaps the east coasts of England. A cold start to the day with sunshine through Wales, much of southwest England and southern Ireland. As the day progresses cloud thickens over the rest of England and Wales with rain for central and northern Scotland. Spots of drizzle for the Pennines, but elsewhere it should be dry. Some bright spells left in the far southwest. Temperatures around 7 to 8C for most of us. to 8C.

Thursday
A significant change in conditions for Thursday. The winds will be to gale force across much of the north of Thursday morning, these strong to gale force winds spreading to all parts of the country during the day. Heavy bands of rain will be sweeping southwards, and although mild for a time, much colder air will move into the north later in the day, turning to rain to snow over the hills of Scotland during the night. It could be a very wet end to the day for much of central and southern England and Wales, with East Anglia seeing most of this. Highs around 10C, but these temperatures falling later as cold air moves south.
