Thursday
A very wet and windy morning across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England, with lighter rain for Wales, Northern Ireland and southern England. Gales will affect all parts through the day. In the afternoon the persistent rain clears from Scotland and northern England and moves into Wales and southern England followed by heavy, blustery showers in the north. As it becomes colder and the winds veer to the north, the showers will turn increasingly to snow across northern Scotland. Expect highs of 7 to 10C.

Thursday Night
A windy, cold evening and night to come across Britain. Rain is expected to clear from all but the south west of England this evening. As the cold air sinks further south, there is a risk of snow showers across Scotland, northern England and The Midlands. These being driven south on gale force northerly winds. Rain is expected to persist across Northern Ireland and Wales. Expect lows at 0 to -3C for the north, 4 to 6C in the south.

Friday
So a cold and gusty northerly wind prevails across Britain today. Outbreaks of sleety rain are likely across much of England, Northern Ireland, Wales this morning with snow showers across Scotland with little change through the afternoon. Gusts to 50-60 mph are likely around North Sea coasts. In the evening it stays wind and there is a risk of light snow and snow flurries across all but the West Country and overnight most areas should see perhaps a light covering my morning. Highs at 1 to 5C but 5 to 7C in the south.

Saturday
A strong, bitterly cold north east wind will prevail across Britain today with outbreaks of light snow for most places this morning though rain showers will affect Northern Ireland. Highs today of 5 to 10C north to south but feeling much colder in the brisk north east wind. In the afternoon light snow across central and southern England will be clearing as it turns dry and sunnier. Some heavy wintry showers will persist across Scotland and northern England. While confidence is not high yet, we could see a heavy area of snow across Wales and the Midlands perhaps giving 4-6cm of accumulation with more over the hills. Snow will persist as well across Scotland with rain likely for Northern Ireland. Highs today of 2 to 5C north to south but feeling much colder in the strong north east wind.
