Thursday
High pressure remains in control of the weather across the United Kingdom and Ireland today, and so the weather is expected to be staying dry for most places. There is the threat of a few outbreaks of rain across northern and western Scotland, as well as over the Lake District and north Wales at anytime. Elsewhere the cloud is probably going to be breaking with some bright or sunny spells coming through. The best of the sunshine across central and southern England, where it could be very mild. Winds will be generally light, although stronger over northern Scotland. High temperatures at 18C in the southeast, nearer 12C in northern Scotland.
Thursday Night
Generally dry for most of the country tonight. There will be some good clear spells coming through, the best of these reserved for central and southern parts of England. A front approaching northwest Scotland bringing stronger winds and some thicker cloud here, with periods of rain pushing south through the Western Isles, Orkney, Shetland and Highland. Temperatures could dip to 3C under any clearer skies, nearer 8C in the cloud over Scotland.
Friday
A change taking place in the north today as a cold front sinks southwards. This will be bringing some outbreaks of rain southwards through Scotland in the morning, and then into Northern Ireland and northern England in the afternoon. Brighter weather follows from the northwest for a time with sunny spells and showers, feeling noticeably cooler too, but then more rain into northern Scotland later. For England, Wales and southern Ireland the day should be dry. There will be some spells of sunshine coming through, the best of these always across southern England. Another very mild day in the south at 18C, but turning much cooler in northern Scotland with highs of 7C here.
Saturday
All parts of the country colder on Saturday as a cold front moves south through all areas. This will bring some showery outbreaks of rain across southern Ireland, southern Wales and southern England early on, these clearing to the south quite quickly. Wintry showers then follows to the coasts of Scotland and northeast England as well as East Anglia. The heaviest of the showers for Scotland. Elsewhere it should be bright , although cold with some good spells of sunshine and scattered wintry showers. Temperatures rising to 3C in northern Scotland, 11C in southwest England.
