Showers developing Very cold by night, severe frosts seiten=4 abk=focus

Monday
A cold, frosty morning across much of the United Kingdom to start the day. Showers are expected across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and south west England with a few heavy and across the Scottish Hills they will be wintry in nature. A few showers too across East Anglia and south east England. In the afternoon the showers will become more widespread but will be interspersed with sunnier spells too. Still a keen north wind will be blowing across western Britain but not quite as cold today with highs of 5 to 8C.

Monday Night
Most of the showers will soon fade away early this evening though a few snow showers will affect the hills of northern Scotland into the night. Temperatures will be falling quite sharply through the evening and night with a widespread and locally severe frost developing by morning along with a few locally dense patches of freezing for across the Midlands, southern and north east England. Lows down to -1 to -6C.

Tuesday
A similar day today with most areas cold, sunny and frosty but showers across northern Scotland and around western coasts will then crop up in many areas during the afternoon. Most of these will be on the light side with snow for northern Scotland. More persistent rain may spill in across Northern Ireland and southern Scotland in the afternoon. Outbreaks of rain will move in across northern Britain tonight with snow likely across much of Scotland. Dry with a frost across southern Britain tonight. Highs of 5 to 11C.

Wednesday
Dry and bright across East Anglia and the south east this morning. Elsewhere it's cloudy and damp with spells of rain and some heavy showers. Perhaps staying dry across Kent this afternoon but for the bulk of Britain we are expecting lots of showers and many will be heavy, merging into longer spells of rain across northern England and Wales. We will find the rain and showers clearing away from most places by the end of the evening then dry overnight with a touch of frost developing inland along with some mist and fog. Highs of 5 to 11C.
