Wet, cold & windy More showers on Thursday seiten=4 abk=focus
Wednesday
Low pressure is bringing a cloudy and damp start to the morning across much of the country. The most persistent of the rain will be through southern Scotland, northwest England, Wales and southwest England, with another area of heavy, showery rain following to southern and southeastern England. Little change is expected this afternoon, although widespread and heavy showers will be forming over much of England with the risk of thunderstorms. After a drier start the rain moves north through Scotland and pushes into eastern Ireland this afternoon. A cold day with temperatures at around 8 to 11C and a brisk wind in places.
Wednesday Night
A band of more persistent rain passes northwards through Wales and England tonight, although drier weather should follow behind. This will bring more broken cloud and a few showers, some of them heavy on the coasts. More persistent rain across Northern Ireland and perhaps northwest England too. More persistent and heavier showers across Scotland, some of them thundery in places. Low temperatures at 3 or 4C.
Thursday
A rather cloudy start to the day across much of Scotland, with rain over many central and northern areas, this turning more showery through the day. Brighter weather over the rest of England, Scotland and Wales with some sunny spells, but also showers developing. Most of the showers will be in the west at first, but then these turn more widespread and become heavier during the day. The heaviest of the showers in the Midlands, Wales and southern England although a risk of thunderstorms and hail just about anywhere. Highs around a warmer 15C in southern England, nearer 11C over the wetter parts of northern Scotland.
Friday
It could be a cloudier and much milder day on Friday. Picking out the details of the weather through Friday is quite hard. However, it does seem likely that there could be some showers affecting parts of southern and western England as well as Wales. A risk of some heavier showers in Scotland and Ireland, but other areas probably drier with some hazy sunshine. Temperatures rising to around 12 to 15C under the cloud, nearer 18C in the brighter skies.
