Heavy showers Risk of downpours seiten=4 abk=focus

Wednesday
Plenty of cloud around through this morning, especially in the east. There will be some outbreaks of rain across southeastern England, these moving through parts of East Anglia in the afternoon. Further west it should be starting off drier with some sunny spells coming through. However, it won't be long before showers get going and some of these are going to become heavy at times over Wales, northwest England, western Scotland and southwest England. Local downpours are possible as are some thunderstorms. Further showers to come over Ireland and again some of these could be heavy here. High temperatures at 16C in northern Scotland, 21C in any sunshine over central England.

Wednesday Night
There is the threat of some heavy periods of rain affecting the far east of East Anglia and Kent tonight. Elsewhere the showers should become more scattered. However, showers are likely to continue through the night over Wales and western parts of England, perhaps merging to longer spells of rain at times. Most of Scotland should be drier with clearer spells coming through, the best of these in the far north. Lows near 7 to 11C.

Thursday
A more disturbed day to come on Thursday. There will be showers through the morning, some of them merging into longer periods of rain through Ireland and southwest Scotland. Elsewhere the showers become increasingly widespread and heavy. There is a risk of some thunderstorms into the afternoon and local downpours. It could become quite windy in the far south in a brisk west wind. Some further persistent rain drifting into northeast Scotland, Orkney and Shetland. Temperatures rising to around 12C in Shetland, 21C over northeast England.

Friday
Cloud and outbreaks of rain again over the north of Scotland. Most of the rain will be light and patchy but there could be an odd heavier burst too. England, Wales and Ireland should be drier with sunny spells. However, showers are going to be developing, although these should be well scattered. Later on in the afternoon winds may increase over southern Ireland and the far southwest of England with rain arriving by the evening. Highs at 15C in northern England, 22C over eastern England.
