Tuesday
Rather a cloudy morning for most of the United Kingdom and Ireland and windy through Scotland. A band of fairly light and patchy rain extends through Ireland and southern Scotland, where the rain could be moderate at times in the southwest. Following the rain are showers and some brighter, fresher weather in northern and western Scotland. For Wales there will be some drizzle on the coasts, with drizzle over northwest England too. Elsewhere it should be dry with broken cloud and some sunny spells coming through. The afternoon sees patchy rain in Wales and northern England, whilst southern England turns fairly sunny and hot. Fresher weather follows through Scotland, Ireland and northern England, with showers to the north and west. Highs at 27C in the sunshine over southeast England, nearer 16C in northern Scotland.

Tuesday Night
The band of patchy rain slips through the Midlands and southern England tonight, but for most areas it should stay dry. It will be turning fresher behind the cloud and rain, with some clearer skies developing. Across Scotland and Northern Ireland it is going to be staying breezy and there will be thicker cloud with some rain affecting western Scotland at times. A few showers in Northern Ireland. Lows around 9C in northern Scotland, 14C in southern England.

Wednesday
Rain spilling through Northern Ireland and western Scotland, then into northwest England on Wednesday morning. Elsewhere the day should start dry, although it may be breezy in places. By the afternoon that rain may have turned more persistent over parts of Ireland and southwest Scotland, as well as through northwest England by the evening. More southern areas should be drier with some sunny spells coming through the cloud. The rest of Scotland should be rather cloudy, although the far north fairs best with plenty of sunshine here.

Thursday
A more unsettled day is on the cards for Thursday. A shallow area of low pressure drifts southeastwards through southern parts of Scotland, bringing cloud and rain with it. The rain will be most persistent over the hills of southern Scotland, northern England, north Wales and Northern Ireland. Drier weather for more southern parts of England and Wales, although rather cloudy. Brighter skies too for the far north of Scotland. Highs around 19C in southern England, just 15C in northern Scotland.
