Tuesday
An area of cloud and rain affecting southern Ireland, southern Wales and the south of England this morning, the rain could be heavy at times with plenty of mist and murk on the coasts and hills too. For more northern and eastern areas of England, Scotland and Ireland the day should start dry with some good spells on sunshine. This afternoon sees the rain edging north through Ireland, Wales and much of southern England, the most persistent over southern coasts of England and western coasts of Wales. Fog on the hills and coasts too. Staying drier for northeast England and Scotland with the best of the sunshine across northern Scotland. Highs around 18 to 22C
Tuesday Night
A wet night to come over much of Wales, southwest England, northern England and southern Scotland. The rain could be heavy at times in the west with fog shrouding the hills and coasts. A risk of localised flooding in some places. A drier night over southern and southeast England although rather misty. Fresher weather with a few showers for Ireland. The far north of Scotland stays dry with variable cloud. A very muggy night in the south with temperatures no lower than 17C, much cooler in Ireland and northern Scotland at 11C.
Wednesday
Heavy rain affecting much of Wales and the far southwest of Scotland, with more rain over northern England. The rain extending through the central parts of Scotland and there is a risk of the rain being thundery at times, perhaps leading to localised flooding again, especially in Wales. The afternoon sees the heaviest rain through north Wales and northern England. Over central and southeastern parts of England it should be drier and very warm or even hot with some sunny spells developing. Cooler across Ireland with a mix of sunny spells and showers, whilst the very far north of Scotland stays dry. Tops at 28C over southeast England, nearer 14C in northern Scotland.
Thursday
A much cooler day with cloud and periods of rain continuing to affect Scotland. Showers and sunny spells over much of England and Wales, a few of them heavy. Little change is expected through the day, although winds will be increasing through Ireland, western Scotland, Wales and western England. Temperatures at 23 or 24C in the Midlands, nearer 17 or 18C through Ireland and western Scotland.
