Heavy rain sweeps east Very warm for some seiten=4 abk=focus
Wednesday
A wet, murky morning across much of Ireland and southern Scotland as well as northwest England and the west of Wales. The rain heavy at times. For the far north and west of Scotland it should be dry with some hazy sunshine. A drier morning over central and eastern England with a few bright spells coming through here allowing it to feel very warm. Into the afternoon heavy bursts of rain pass eastwards through Wales and western England with heavy showers over the Midlands. Only the far southeast may stay dry. Further periods of heavy rain or showers for much of Ireland and central and southern Scotland with rumbles of thunder too. Tops near 26C in any sunshine in southeastern England, nearer a fresh 18C in Northern Ireland.
Wednesday Night
The heavy spells of rain pass eastwards during the early part of tonight to be affecting much of England and Scotland. The rain could be heavy enough to produce some localised flooding in places as some heavy bursts move through. Fresher, drier weather should follow from the west. However, by the morning some heavy bursts of showery rain could be returning to southern Ireland and southwest England with rain tending to hang around through southwest Scotland and Northern Ireland. Temperatures at 14 or 15C in England and Wales, nearer 10C in central parts of Ireland.
Thursday
With low pressure centred over the Midlands a showery day is expected through much of England and Wales. Those showers could be heavy in the afternoon with a risk of thunderstorms too. More persistent rain across southern parts of Scotland and lying through Ireland. The best of the weather for Thursday is going to be over the far north of Scotland where the weather will be staying dry with some good spells of sunshine. Highs around 23 or 24C in the Midlands, nearer 15C in southern Scotland.
Friday
A better day seems likely on Friday as low pressure moving into the North Sea. The winds will be turning to the northwest and this will bring fresher weather southwards through the whole of the country. There will be some showers, most to the north and east of Scotland as well as eastern England. Drier weather should be spreading to the west as high pressure builds bringing dry conditions and sunny spells to many western areas. Temperatures at 19 to 22C.
