Thursday
Low pressure is going to be dominating the weather through the course of today. There will be some sunny spells this morning through much of England and Wales, but it will not be long before some showers develop. Some of these are likely to be turning heavy in the afternoon and there is a risk of a thunderstorms breaking out too. More persistent rain and thicker cloud will be affecting the south of Scotland and parts of Ireland throughout the day. The best of the weather is reserved for the far north of Scotland where the day should stay dry with some good spells of sunshine throughout. High temperatures at 24C over parts of the Midlands, nearer 17C for northern Scotland.
Thursday Night
The more persistent rain slips southwards through northern England, Ireland and then into north and west Wales by the morning. Elsewhere the showers should be fading away with most of southern England then turning dry. Over Northern Ireland there will be some further spots of rain, this also affecting southern Scotland for a time. For most of Scotland the night should be dry with clear spells. Lows at 7C i northern Scotland, nearer 14C in southern England.
Friday
Showers outbreaks of rain and cloud will be moving southwards through eastern and central England on Friday. Much brighter, fresher weather should follow through Scotland, northern England and Ireland with mainly dry weather here and sunny spells. The afternoon sees a few showers again over eastern coasts of the country, but for most the day will be dry with some sunny spells, the best in the west. Highs around 18C in the far north of Scotland, nearer 22C over southern parts of England.
Saturday
After a cold night with the risk of a ground frost over central Scotland Saturday looks set to become wet and windy for most. Heavy rain is going to be sweeping eastwards through all areas with the winds possibly touching gale force in places. The heaviest of the rain is likely to be through southern England and southern Scotland with the risk of some flooding in places. The rain turning more showery from the west later. Highs at 16 to 20C.
