Rain and heavy showers Drier in south later seiten=4 abk=focus

Wednesday
A band of rain lying through the far south of Ireland, southwest England and southern Wales this morning, some of this heavy at times and windy here too. A further area of rain over central and eastern Scotland, some of this heavy on the hills. Elsewhere it should be a bright morning with showers, these becoming heavy at times. Into the afternoon the strong winds continue in the south with that band of rain extending across southern Ireland, Wales and southern parts of England too. More rain over central Scotland, although this turning more patchy. Drier weather should edge into the south of England and Wales towards evening. Elsewhere over the country there will be sunny spells and showers, a few of them heavy at times. Temperatures rising to 19C in the sunshine to the far south, 14C in the rain.

Wednesday Night
Staying windy in the south with the weather turning drier and brighter over much of central and southern England as well as southern Wales. The rain still affects southern Ireland, north Wales and perhaps parts of the northern Midlands and northern England. Drier too through much of Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as the far north of England, but there could still be some patchy rain over northeast Scotland. Temperatures at 9 to 11C by the morning.

Thursday
There could still be some outbreaks of rain over the north of Wales and northern England. A brighter morning for most of the rest of England, Wales and Ireland, although it won't be long before some showers start to develop, a few becoming heavy. Mainly dry over Scotland with the best of the sunshine in western areas. The afternoon sees little change for most with scattered heavy showers over most of England, Wales and Ireland, apart from some rain in a narrow band over the south of Northern England. Mainly dry in Scotland and Northern Ireland, the best sunshine in the west. Temperatures at 16C in northern Scotland, 19C over southern England. The winds becoming lighter everywhere.

Friday
Low pressure remains over the country this morning. There could be some cloud and outbreaks of rain over southern parts of Scotland. Elsewhere a bright start for many of us with some sunny spells. Showers are going to be forming though, and these could become heavy at times, especially over Wales, western England and Northern Ireland. Much drier for more eastern areas. Temperatures at 18 or 19C for most, nearer 22C in the drier and brighter weather to the east.
