Cloud breaking, very warm Thunderstorms on Sunday seiten=4 abk=focus
Saturday
There's a change in the weather on the way for some parts of the country on Saturday as drier air moves in from the Continent. The effect of this will be to break up the cloud layer which has been a problem for the last few days, bringing more sunshine to much of central and eastern England. It will be feeling warm or even hot in the sunshine too. Further north and west there will be more in the way of cloud, this particularly affecting western England, Wales and the west of Scotland as well as Ireland. However, even here the cloud is going to be breaking through the day and so we should see some sunny spells just about anywhere. Temperatures peaking at 28C in the sunshine in the southeast, nearer 20C where it stays cloudier in the west.
Saturday Night
This evening should stay warm with some clear skies across much of England, eastern Wales and parts of eastern Scotland. Thicker cloud moves into the west of Ireland and Scotland bringing some outbreaks of rain here. This slips eastwards during the night across most of Ireland, turning it damp and rather misty here with similar weather over central and western Scotland. By morning we may start to see some showers drifting onto southern coasts of England, perhaps with a few cracks of thunder. A mild night with temperatures no lower than 17C in southeast England, 11C as fresher air moves into Ireland.
Sunday
A breakdown in conditions on Sunday. An area of thundery rain is expected to cross the far southeast in the morning, perhaps becoming heavy at times. Then, as cooler air tries to push in from the west thundery showers will develop over most of Scotland, northern England, the Midlands and Wales. These will merge to longer spells of rain in places with the focus for the heaviest of the rain expected over northern England and southern Scotland. We should see drier, fresh conditions moving into Ireland, west Wales and southwest England by the end of the day. High temperatures around 24C over much of the eastern half of the country, but nearer 18C over Ireland and west Wales as the cooler air arrives.
Monday
Some rain affecting the far north of Scotland on Monday morning, but for most of the country it is going to be a dry and bright start to the day. There will be a few showers breaking out over Wales, northern and western England through the morning, most of these light and scattered. However, thicker cloud will be moving through Ireland bringing some outbreaks of rain, and an increasing southwest wind. Into the afternoon the rain will spread into Wales and the west of England, becoming heavy at times. Winds will be increasing too, bringing a risk of gales here. Highs at 17 to 22C.
