Wednesday
Rather cloudy and very cold across England and Wales with a mixture of some patchy bits of sleety rain and snow. Western parts of Scotland will see so patchy light rain and drizzle. Dry and brighter conditions for south west England and Northern Ireland. Patchy rain and drizzle will linger across western Scotland and north west England during the afternoon. For the rest of Britain it's mainly dry with varying cloud and a few sunnier spells. Expect maximum temperatures of 2 to 5C.

Wednesday Night
A cloudy evening for much of Scotland with patchy rain. Fair and dry across England and Wales with frost developing during the evening. Overnight most places will be dry with a frost and this will be widespread and locally severe in the south. Expect lows of 0 to 1C in the north and -2 to -6C in the south.

Thursday
A breezy day across the far north of Scotland with outbreaks of rain. A dry day for the rest of Britain with a cold, frosty morning. In the afternoon it stays dry with sunny spells. This evening rain clears from northern Scotland while temperatures fall across England and Wales as a hard frost develops. Overnight all parts will be dry and very cold with a widespread frost which will be locally severe in central and southern England and here a few dense patches of freezing fog may develop. Highs of 2 to 4C.

Friday
Rather breezy in the west today and it will be bitterly cold today. Under high pressure it will be a dry day with some good spells of sunshine. Any fog patches across the Midlands and the south will clear in the morning. Frost soon develops this evening and becomes widespread and severe in many areas overnight. Rain moving into northern Scotland will change to snow. Highs of 0 to 4C.
