Wednesday
A fine start to the day with some good spells of sunshine. It will be chilly as well and there may be some icy stretches on the roads and pavements. Cloud is going to be thickening from the west and this will blow rain through Ireland as the sunshine turns more hazy over Wales and the west of Scotland and England. Winds will be increasing this afternoon over the west and these may reach gale force across Ireland as it turns wet with some heavy bursts of rain. Patchier rain reaches the west of Wales, western Scotland and western England in the later afternoon but all other parts of the country should be fair with sunny spells, the best of the sunshine through southeastern areas. A cold day across the north with tops of 2 or 3C, nearer 7C across Ireland and southwest England.

Wednesday Night
Rain spread eastwards across most of Scotland and Wales as well as Ireland. The rain turning to snow over the high ground of Scotland with the winds increasing to gale force in the west. More eastern parts of England and the Midlands should stay dry throughout the night with some clear spells here. A frost in the east with lows of 0 to 1C, but rising as the rain arrives in the west to nearer 5C.

Thursday
A wet day to come through much of Ireland, northern England, Wales and southwest England. Some heavy bursts of rain on the hills, these turning to sleet and snow over the hills of Scotland and northwest England. Windy in the north and west too in the morning. The rain will be lighter through the Midlands and northeast England. Southeastern parts of the country should be dry with sunny spells throughout the day, although these will be hazy. A cold day for many at 4 to 5C, milder in the west at 8 to 9C.

Friday
The rain affects the eastern half of England and Scotland today, moving very little as the day moves on. There will be some heavy bursts of rain in places with some snow over the hills of Scotland. A further area of rain and wind moves into Ireland in the afternoon, but for Wales and southwest England as well as western Scotland the day should be drier and brighter with some spells of sunshine. Highs at a chilly 3 or 4C in the east in the rain, nearer 6 or 7C ion the west.
