Thursday
A windy day over all parts of the country. There is a band of rain stretching through Scotland, northern England, Wales and southwest England, some of the rain heavy over southern facing hills and slopes. Drier weather, but still windy through the Midlands and southeast at first. Into this afternoon the heaviest of the rain drifts into eastern Scotland, remains through northern England, eastern Wales, the southwest half of England and the western Midlands. Through western Wales it should become drier later with a few bright spells coming through. Western Scotland will have showers or outbreaks of rain throughout and will be staying windy. Drier weather across Ireland, but then rain returning in the afternoon. Winds will be to severe gale force over northern and western areas with highs at 6 to 8C.
Thursday Night
The rain slips through the rest of England and Scotland overnight, but this turning lighter and more patchy. Drier weather should be edging into the west and this will be slipping through Ireland and into the west of Scotland too. The winds will be easing through the night, but will still be to gale force over Scotland and parts of Ireland. Lows near 3 to 5C.
Friday
Light outbreaks of rain over southeast England at first, but these clearing quickly. Drier weather for much of England and Wales in the morning, but then rain arrives through Wales and northwest England in the afternoon. Staying windy across Scotland and Ireland with further outbreaks of rain and showers. The winds will be to gale force with temperatures near 7 to 10C.
Saturday
Any residual rain clears eastern England in the morning, then drier weather follows through England, Wales and the east of Scotland. It will be staying dry here for most of the afternoon, but it is going to be windy with gales or severe gales. Through Ireland and Scotland it will become very windy and wet. The rain is going to be heavy at times and winds will be reaching 60 or even 70mph at at times. The rain turning to snow over the hills of Scotland and highs at 4 to 8C.
