Friday
It becomes increasingly windy across western Britain and northern Scotland through the day. A rather cloudy day as well across much of the United Kingdom with sporadic outbreaks of rain. The rain looks heaviest across western parts of Scotland and England along with Wales while lighter rain falls in the east. A lot of mist too over the hills with a few brighter spells developing to the east of the Pennines and in the south east. Expect maximum temperatures of 6 to 10C for most places.

Friday Night
Breezy this evening with light rain across central and eastern parts of England and Scotland clearing. Showers will affect the west at times. Overnight persistent rain spreads back in across Northern Ireland and south west England as any residual rain in the south east soon clears. Elsewhere a mainly dry night to come with varying cloud and clear spells. Expect lows of 4 to 8C north to south.

Saturday
After a dull, damp start, any patchy rain should clear from central and eastern parts of England and Scotland as it brightens up. Rain across Northern Ireland and south west England will move into Wales and western Scotland in the afternoon and turns heavy. The winds will also be strengthening and severe gales will affect the west and north this evening with gusts up to 90 mph across western Scotland and 60-70 mph near western coasts. Overnight gales then transfer into eastern Britain as the rain sweeps east. As the rain clears the north it turns to snow. Highs of 7 to 10C.

Sunday
A windy and colder day to come with wintry showers across Scotland and Wales and rain showers across south west England and Northern Ireland. Dry and sunnier in the east. Little change is expected during the afternoon though we may see more persistent rain spreading into the West Country. This turns heavy as it moves into much of England and Wales in the evening. Overnight this is expected to turn to heavy snow across Wales and from The Midlands northward into Scotland. Expect highs of 8 to 11C.
