Sunday
Windy today and colder with gusts to gale force in the north and west and through the channel. Dry and sunny this morning across central and eastern parts of England. Occasional, blustery showers are expected across Scotland, some heavy. Heavy rain showers mixed with hail will affect Wales and western parts of England with a longer spell of rain for Northern Ireland. In the afternoon In the afternoon snow showers are possible across Scotland, northern England and over the Welsh hills. Showers of hail, rain and sleet will persist across western areas while central and eastern England stays dry with the best of the sunshine. Expect maximum temperatures of 2 to 6C.
Sunday Night
Further snow showers ar expected across Scotland and north west England this evening with outbreaks of rain moving into south west England and southern Wales. Heavy rain in the south west spreads into Wales and much of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. This will fall as snow across northern Scotland and the Southern Uplands and perhaps over the northern Pennines for a time. During the night gales will develop in the west with a risk of severe gales by morning. Expect lows of -1 to 5C but will tend to rise a bit during the night.
Monday
A very windy morning with gales across Britain and severe gales in the west and near southern coasts. Most places will be wet and as the rain clears it turns to snow from Wales into northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and this may be heavy. In the afternoon the severe winds die down and there is a risk of snow showers for much of the United Kingdom with rain showers in the far south of England. Wintry showers will affect western parts of England, Wales and Scotland into the evening and night. Dry and clear elsewhere with patches of ice on untreated roads and pavements. Expect highs of 2 to 7C north to south.
Tuesday
Breezy but dry and sunny away from western coasts where there will be showers, these of snow from Wales into Scotland. In the afternoon the snow showers become more frequent and heavy across Scotland with some heavy accumulations possible. A few heavy wintry showers as well for Wales and northern England while it remains dry across the Midlands and south east England. The snow showers become confined to western coasts tonight. A cold and icy night with a sharp frost developing in many areas. Expect highs of 2 to 7C north to south.
