Tuesday
A chilly but fair start to the morning over much of England and Wales. It should be dry here with sunny spells. The afterbnoon sees more sunny spells but a risk of some scattered showers here and there. Showers affect the western and southern coasts and slopes of Wales and across southwest and southern coasts of England, these showers heavy and wintry at times. A windy day to come across Scotland and Ireland with the most persistent of the showers here, and again these will be wintry at times, not exclusively on high ground, and the showers may merge into longer spells of precipitation. By this evening there is the threat of the rain, sleet and snow reaching west wales and west Scotland. Highs near 3 to 5C and feeling very cold in the wind.
Tuesday Night
A period of sleet and snow crossing Wales and into central parts of England through tonight. This could lead to a period of several hours of snow which may deposit 2 to 5cm by the morning, even to lower levels. The highest risk is through the Midlands and northwest England as well as the higher ground of central southern England. Further showers across northern and western Scotland as wel as the coasts of Ireland. Drier through east Anglia and the southeast. Lows near 1 to -2C.
Wednesday
A few showers across southeast England this morning, but these fading away. It should then be dry and bright but cold for much of England, Wales and eastern Scotland. Further showers affect the north of Wales, nortwhest England, western Scotland and the higher ground of Northern Ireland, perhaps falling as snow in places. Thicker cloud moves through ireland bringing rain this afternoon with the winds increasing. This rain arrives in western Scotland and western Wales by the evening as much of central and eastern England and eastern Scotland stay dry. Highs at a cold 2 to 5C.
Thursday
Heavy periods of rain and gale force winds sweeping eastwards through the country overnight into Thursday morning, with the heavy rain clearing southeast England in the morning. This will be followed by brighter skies and a blustery westerly flow. Drier overall but the threat of blustery showers on western coasts as heavier rain and gales return through Ireland into the later afternoon and evening. Temperatures at 4C in central Scotlabnd but a milder 10C in southern England.
