Thursday
A wet start to the morning over much of England, eastern Scotland and eastern Wales. The rain is going to be heavy at times and it will be windy too with gusts to gale force. Drier but blustery weather is moving through Ireland and western Wales and this drier, blustery weather will be spreading east as the morning progresses. Rain clears East Anglia by midday. A drier slot of weather then follows for a time, although showers will affect western Scotland. However, for Wales, Ireland and southwest England things change again in the afternoon as more rain spreads in and turns heavy as the winds increase. gale force winds and rain spreading through southern England, the Midlands and southern Wales by evening. Highs at a cold 5C in central Scotland, 9C in southern England, but turning colder through the day.
Thursday Night
An area of heavy rain and strong winds, reaching gale force at times, over England and Wales through the evening and the first part of the night. As this rain clears eastwards through the early hours, colder air will be pulled in behind it and so the rain may turn to snow over parts of northern England, the Midlands and central southern England for an hour or two. A further area of showers and rain spreading through southern Ireland and southwest England as well as Wales. A few showers over western Scotland, but drier to the east. Lows at 0 to 2C.
Friday
A cold day to come. Strong winds and wintry showers for northern and western Scotland, more isolated showers for the east and south of Scotland. There could be an area of more persistent rain with sleet and snow over the Pennines for a time in the afternoon. Showers affecting western coasts of England, Ireland and Wales, some of these wintry. Places sheltered from the blustery wind by high ground to the west should stay dry, the best of the sunshine in eastern Ireland and the Midlands. Highs at 4 to 6C.
Saturday
Another cold and blustery day on Saturday, but most places should see some sunshine. There will be a few showers over western coasts of Wales and England as well as Scotland. The best of the sunshine over central and eastern England as well as eastern Scotland. The showers could turn wintry over high ground in the east. Thicker cloud and some rain reaching southwest Ireland as the winds increase to gale force. Highs at 3 to 7C.
