A rather cold and frosty start to the morning across much of Britain. A few sharp showers are forecast for the West Country, western Wales and north west Scotland. Fair and dry with some bright or sunnier spells for the rest of the country. In the afternoon the showers become a bit more widespread across Wales and western parts of England and Scotland. A few wintry ones as well across northern Scotland. For eastern areas it looks fine and dry with sunnier spells. Expect maximum temperatures of 4 to 8C north to south.
Saturday Night
It becomes windy across western Britain this evening as gales develop overnight. Outbreaks of rain spill in across Northern Ireland, Wales and south west England this evening with the east dry and mostly clear. During the night the rain, heavy in places, spreads into most places and will turn to snow across the hills of Scotland. Expect lows of 0 to -3C in the north but 4 to 7C in the south.
Sunday
Blustery showers will affect Northern Ireland, Wales and south west England this morning, some heavy for the afternoon. More snow for the hills of northern Scotland. Eastern parts of England and Scotland will be very wet and windy with spells of heavy morning rain. This only gradually clears away during the course of the afternoon. A cold night with a frost across northern areas tonight. In the south more cloud and some patchy bits of rain are possible. Expect highs of 3 to 8C north to south.
Monday
A dry, bright morning across Scotland and Northern Ireland. For much of England it's a cloudy morning with some patchy outbreaks of rain. During the afternoon much of this will tend to fizzle out as it brightens up and some sunshine then develops. Cold and mainly dry tonight with a frost expected away from south east England. Expect highs of 3 to 8C north to south.
