A rather cold start across England and Wales with patchy frost and some locally genes patches of fog across some central and southern parts of England. These clear to sunny spells this morning. Outbreaks of rain will affect Scotland and Northern Ireland this morning. In the afternoon this area of rain turns heavy and spreads in across Wales, south west and northern England. Central and south east England remains dry and bright with some sunshine in the south east. Expect maximum temperatures of 4 to 9C north to south.
Tuesday Night
A belt of heavy rain will lie from north east England across the North Midlands into Wales and south west England. This then moves into central and southern England during the night. To the north it's a dry evening and night with clear spells and a frost developing across Scotland by morning. Expect lows of 0 to 3C in the north and 5 to 8C in the south.
Wednesday
Outbreaks of rain will affect East Anglia and the south east this morning and this slowly clears away in the early afternoon. Apart from a few showers in the north west of Scotland with a few snow showers over the Highlands, it's a dry, bright day for the remainder of the United Kingdom with sunny spells. Most places will be dry with clear spells during the evening ad night but more cloud may affect the south with a frost in the north. Expect highs of 5 to 9C.
Thursday
Quite a windy day in the north and west with a risk of gales for western Scotland for a time. Most places will be dry this morning with sunnier spells and some cloud. Rain will move into the far west of Northern Ireland this morning then into northern Scotland in the afternoon. Perhaps some patchy rain will affect Wales. The rest of Britain will stay dry with a mix of bright or sunny spells and cloud. The rain ligers across northern Scotland and Northern Ireland tonight as it drifts back west. Expect highs of 5 to 9C.
