Friday
An area of heavy rain over northern England, Ireland and the central and southern parts of Scotland. Lots of mist and murk with some fog over the hills. The rain easing as the morning progresses, although staying wet with heavy periods of rain for much of central and eastern Scotland. Elsewhere it is going to be cloudy and murky. There will be some outbreaks of rain, mostly in the south. Some bright spells may break through the cloud over southern England and Wales although this will allow heavy showers to form in the afternoon, some locally torrential. The far north of Scotland will have a few showers but across Orkney the day should be fair once again.

Turning windy in the south too with a risk of gales in the southwest. Lows near 5 to 8C.
