Wednesday
A dry and bright start to the day through eastern parts of the country, some good spells of sunshine here at first. Cloud and rain is already going to be affecting more western areas and this rain spills east into Wales and southwest England as the morning progresses, turning ever heavier. Scaterred showers to the north and east. Winds increasing in the west too. The afternoon becomes wet and windy through much of southern ireland, Wales, central and southwest England. The rain could be heavy at times and there is a risk of thunder. Winds reaching gale force in exposed parts through the evening. Through northern England, Scotland and East Anglia there will be some showers, but dry spells too and brighter here with some sunny spells. Highs near 21C in the brighter weather over East Anglia, nearer 14C in northern Scotland.

Wednesday Night
Low pressure crosses northern England tonight taking heavy periods of rain through much of England and Wales. There is the threat of as much as 50mm of rain falling over the Pennines and parts of Wales. A windy night too with the rain eventually clearing into the North Sea, but moving into Scotland and becoming heavy. A few showers on western coasts of Wales and England as the winds pick up to be reaching severe gale force at times. Lows of 10 or 11C for most.

Thursday
A wet day to come across Scotland with the rain never really clearing away from central and northern areas. The rain here could be heavy at tiems and there is a risk of localised flooding. South of here the weather will be drier and very windy. There will be broken cloud around and some showers affecting western coasts and hills. By the evening the cloud thickens again through southwest England bringing the threat of some rain here by evening. Highs near a cool 12C in northern Scotland, 19C along the south coasts of England.

Thursday
A cold and windy day on Friday. An area of heavy rain will be tracing south through Scotland in the morning, moving into northern England, north Wales and the Midlands in the afternoon. Behind the rain will be a few showers and ahead of it conditions should be mainly dry. Fairly breezy over Ireland too with the threat of a few showers here. Temperatures at just 10 or 11C in Scotland, nearer 16C in southern England but feeling cold everywhere in the northwest wind.
