Monday
A bright start to the day for some parts of southern England, but the emphasis is going to be on increasing cloud amounts across the country. Most of England and Wales stay dry this morning, although there could be a few spots of drizzle in northwest Wales. Thicker cloud and more persistent rain are expected to be affecting the west of Scotland and Northern Ireland where some of the rain may become heavy at times as the winds increase to gale force. This afternoon sees wet and windy weather over much of Scotland, northwest England and parts of Northern Ireland (although it should become lighter here through the afternoon). Windy in the north with widespread gales and gusts to 70mph over exposed parts of western Scotland. For much of the rest of England and Wales the day is dry and rather muggy but with plenty of cloud around too. A few spots of drizzle for north Wales, although generally dry here. Highs near 21C in southeast England, just 14C in the far north of Scotland.
Monday Night
A windy night to come for the north of the country with gales widespread here and gusts still to 70mph in the west. There will be rain, some of it heavy across western and northern Scotland as well as western Ireland, although this tending to become lighter after midnight. Skies are also going to become clearer through England and Wales through the early hours of the morning, although always the threat of some low cloud and drizzle on the west coasts of Wales. Lows of around 10 to 14C.
Tuesday
Tuesday sees the winds slowly easing late in the morning across the north, with a band of cloud and outbreaks of patchy rain tracking through northern England and then into Wales in the morning. By the afternoon the cloud and patchy rain will be through central and southern England as well as Wales, although this band of cloud breaking all the time allowing some bright spells through. Becoming much brighter and fresher for Scotland, northern England and Ireland, although some showers on western coasts. Highs near 23C in southeast England, 15C in northern Scotland.
Wednesday
Some residual cloud along southern coasts of England on Wednesday, but this is going to be breaking through the day with sunny spells coming through. Showers, some of them heavy for the north and west of Scotland and it will be breezy here as well. For most places though it will be a dry day with sunny spells. Highs near 22C in the south, but 16C in northern Scotland.
