Low temperatures at 3C in northern and eastern England, perhaps even down to 1C in Scotland. A widesprad ground frost here. Nearer 5C in western England.

Into the afternoon it becomes wet and windy to the north and west and this rain spreads into all but the far east of England by evening. Brighter weather will be spreading to the west of Ireland bringing a few showers at times here. Highs at 9 to 16C.
Saturday
Rain clears eastwards overnight and is then followed by breezy, brighter conditions. There is the risk of showers through the day for northern western Scotland, and just about any western coast could catch an odd shower. Highs will be close to 10C in northern Scotland, 16C in southwest England.
