Rain spreading east A colder, drier weekend seiten=4 abk=focus
Friday
A dry morning across much of the United Kingdom with the best of the sunshine in central and eastern parts of Scotland and England. We expect more cloud in the west as outbreaks of rain spreads into western Britain during the course of the morning. It becomes very windy in the west as the rain in the west sweeps east into all parts of the country. Some heavy bursts are likely. By the end of the afternoon the rain will have cleared Northern Ireland, Wales and south west England followed by some heavy showers. Cool today with highs of 8 to 12C.
Friday Night
Quite windy this evening. Outbreaks of rain now across eastern parts of Scotland and England will soon clear away to the east. A number of showers will be found in the west this evening and tonight while central and eastern areas remain dry with clear spells. A cold night but too much wind for frost tonight. Expect lows down to 3 to 7C.
Saturday
It's an east - west split today. A gusty north west wind will continue to feed in a number of showers onto mainly western coasts. A few of these showers will be heavy. Most central and eastern areas of England and Scotland will be dry with sunny spells and patchy cloud. Showers will persist around western coasts this evening and tonight. With lighter winds and clear skies elsewhere, it will become cold with a widespread frost developing. Expect highs of 7 to 12C with lows near freezing in some places.
Sunday
Some light rain will affect northern Scotland but should soon die away. A few showers will again be found near some western coasts of Wales and England. In the afternoon a northeast wind may bring one or showers to North Sea coasts but for much of Britain, it's a dry afternoon with sunny spells and patchy cloud. A few showers will remain near around eastern coasts of England and Scotland otherwise it's a dry evening and night with clear spells leading to a touch of frost. Expect highs of 6 to 11C.
