Rain spreading east Staying wet & windy seiten=4 abk=focus
Thursday
Increasingly windy in the west today. Rain is expected across Scotland this morning. Apart from scattered showers across Northern Ireland and around western coasts, the rest of Britain should be mainly dry with some sunshine and variable cloudiness. In the afternoon we'll find rain spreading in across Wales, Northern Ireland, south west and north west England along with western Scotland. Central and eastern areas look fair, dry and bright. Mild with highs of 9 to 14C.
Thursday Night
Windy with winds touching gale force around western coasts this evening. Outbreaks of heavy rain in the west are expected to sweep north eastward into all parts of the country this evening. As the heavy rain clears the east from the west it will be replaced by a rash of heavy showers across western parts of the United Kingdom. Expect lows down to 0 to 2C in the north, 3 to 8C in the south.
Friday
A good deal of dry, brighter weather to come this morning with sunny spells but a few showers will be found near western coasts and some light rain may in the extreme south. In the afternoon this rain is forecast to turn heavier as it spreads north into much of England and Wales. This area then tracks north into Scotland in the evening and night, clearing to heavy showers to the south. There is a risk of severe gales in the south west. Expect highs of 9 to 15C north to south.
Saturday
Gale or severe gales are possible in the west this morning and these strong winds transfer into eastern areas in the afternoon. Quite a blustery day with frequent showers or longer spells of rain though it tends to become dry across Northern Ireland in the afternoon. By evening most of the showers will become confined to western coasts. Expect highs of 8 to 12C.
