Saturday
Snow affecting central and eastern parts of Scotland this morning, some of it heavy over the Grampians and Highlands. Some cloud and outbreaks of sleety rain for northern England and Northern Ireland too, especially towards lunchtime. For much of the southern half of England and Wales it will be a fine, cold start to the day with good spells of sunshine. This afternoon sees the snow showers drifting down the eastern coasts of England, turning to rain for the north and west coasts of Wales. A few snow showers too in Northern Ireland. Staying dry for much of mid and south Wales as well as southern England. Temperatures rising to around 1C in northern Scotland, 5C in southwest England.
Saturday Night
An area of cloud will be advancing south through Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia through this evening and the first part of the night, bringing some snow flurries to these locations. There is the threat of the snow turning moderate as it reaching the far southeastern corner of the country towards Sunday morning. A further area of cloud and snow flurries moves into the southern Uplands in the early hours becoming moderate here. Snow showers throughout in northern Scotland, most light and scattered. Elsewhere it should be dry and cold. A widespread severe frost with lows down to -17C in central Scotland, nearer -2 to -4C elsewhere.
Sunday
Snow showers will be fading from eastern coastlines of Scotland and England in the morning. The snow also fading from the Southern Uplands. Generally it will be a fine start to the day with sunny spells, although the winds increasing in the southwest. The afternoon is then dry for most of the country with more sunny spells, although always the risk of some snow showers on eastern coasts of England and Scotland. Thickening cloud across southern Ireland and southwest England as well as the increasing wind. Just a low risk of a sleety flurry for southern Ireland. Highs at a bitterly cold 0 to 3C.
Monday
The winds should ease in the south again through Monday. eastern coasts again face some sleet or snow showers, with the best of the dry weather and sunshine in the west. Northern coasts of Scotland will be cold and cloudy with some rain and sleet showers. There is always the chance of some cloud along southern coasts of England and it will be bitterly cold too. Highs of 1 to 3C.
