Monday
Much of Britain starts the day with a hard frost but with lots of crisp, wintry sunshine. Later this morning some rain turns to snow in the far north of Scotland and there's some light snow coming into Northern Ireland too. Heavier outbreaks of snow are expected across northern Scotland with a few snow showers close to North Sea coasts and a few snow flurries across Wales this afternoon. The rest of Britain looks mainly dry with sunny spells but some sleety rain for Northern Ireland. Expect highs of -1 to 3C.

Monday Night
Snow spreads across much of Scotland this evening with light snow moving into Wales. Across Northern Ireland expect heavy snow showers. A bitterly cold night with a band of moderate snow expected across northern England with a few heavy snow showers for Wales and northern Scotland. More snow showers to come across Northern Ireland with a few around eastern coasts. Elsewhere it's a moderate to locally severe frost. Lows of -1 to -8C but -15C across parts of northern Scotland.

Tuesday
A band of moderate snow across northern England and Wales in the morning pushes into the Midlands and south west England with a modest accumulation in places in the afternoon. Lots of heavy snow showers too around western and eastern coasts of Scotland and England and across Northern Ireland. As this snow moves into the far south we could see some locally heavy falls into the evening and night. Most places could see a covering overnight with a hard frost. Highs of -1 to 3C.

Wednesday
