Snow and snow showers Bitterly cold seiten=4 abk=focus
Tuesday
Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow across parts of central and across southern England will continue to push away to the south and should clear most places around lunchtime. Still some snow showers to come across parts of Scotland and across north east England, some heavy but a very cold icy start to the day. In the afternoon a band of snow tracks across northern England into North Wales the North Midlands perhaps giving a centimetre or two of accumulation. More heavy snow showers to come for eastern Scotland with a few for Northern Ireland as well but some good sunny spells expected as well. Expect highs of -3 to 2C but staying well below the freezing mark across central Scotland and over the Pennines.
Tuesday Night
A thinning band of snow across central parts of England pushes south overnight giving a covering to some areas. Snow showers, some heavy, will persist across north east England, East Anglia, northern Scotland and near western coasts of Britain into the evening and night. A bitterly cold night to come with widespread ice. Lows of -2 to -10C but -18C across parts of northern Scotland.
Wednesday
The extreme south of England could see some moderate to heavy snow in the morning heavy falls of snow through the day. Most of the snow showers today are likely to be found around eastern and western coasts of England, Scotland and Wales and also across northern parts of Northern Ireland. Anywhere could see some accumulation in these showers with icy stretches persisting in some places all day as temperatures struggle to reach freezing. Otherwise mainly dry and bright with the best sunshine across central Scotland, Wales and central England. Overnight a widespread, severe frost develops with heavy snow showers across north east England which may give a significant accumulation. Highs of -3 to 2C but feeling well below zero with a biting north east wind.
Thursday
Another icy start to the day with a risk of some light snow or snow showers across England and Wales. Brighter and sunnier here for the afternoon with most of the snow showers across eastern England and the West Country. Largely a dry, sunny day across Scotland and Northern Ireland with just a few wintry showers near some coasts. The snow showers die out this evening and this will be followed by a very cold night with a widespread, severe frost again. Highs of -3 to 2C.
