Wednesday
A major snow storm is expected to hit central and southern parts of England with accumulations as high as 30-40cm possible in places through the day. Some drifting is also likely in the gusty winds with widespread disruption likely. In the afternoon the snow extends up into East Anglia. Wintry showers will affect eastern parts of Scotland and north east England. For Wales any snow left in the south east clears and it becomes much drier with just the odd wintry shower in the west. A few snow showers to come for Northern Ireland but a dry day with the best of the sunshine for western Scotland and north west England. Expect highs of -1 to 2C but feeling well below zero in the wind.
Wednesday Night
Still some snow to come across south eastern parts of England during the evening and night but evening snow across East Anglia clears tonight. A bitterly cold night to come with widespread ice. Further snow showers, some heavy, are likely across north east England and the north of Scotland. Elsewhere a bitterly cold night lows of -2 to -10C but -18C across parts of northern Scotland.
Thursday
A number of snow showers are expected across north east England today, some heavy with a few into the Midlands. Overall a mainly dry day to come with good sunny spells but bitterly cold, especially over the snow fields where temperatures will remain below freezing. Another severely cold and icy night to come with severe frost. Most places will be dry and clear. Highs of 0 to -4C with lows at -3 to -15C.
Friday
For the bulk of the United Kingdom it's going to be a dry but very cold day. Most places will see unbroken amounts of crisp, wintry sunshine. Just a few snow showers will run close to the coasts of north east England and Norfolk during the day. A number of snow showers will affect eastern and south eastern parts of England this evening and tonight. Dry, clear and again, bitterly cold for the rest of Britain with widespread ice problems. Highs of -3 to 2C.
