Staying bitterly cold Sunshine for many seiten=4 abk=focus
Thursday
A bitterly cold start to the morning once again across the whole of the country. Ice is going to be widespread and roads and pavements will be treacherous. A few snow showers are going to be affecting the east of Scotland and eastern England as well as the far west of Wales. Through the afternoon an area of more persistent snow showers will affect East Anglia and spin through southeast England perhaps bringing a fresh covering of snow. Some cloud and snow showers in northeast Scotland too. Elsewhere it should be dry, cold and fine with good spells of sunshine, although Ireland and the far southwest of England and southwest of Wales always have more cloud. Highs struggling above freezing through many areas.
Thursday Night
A few snow showers continue to affect eastern parts of Scotland and eastern England this evening. Through the night these snow showers will be pushing back inland as the wind changes to be more of a northeasterly, and increases. More western areas should stay drier with clearer skies and another severe frost. Lows could be to -16C over the Scottish Highlands, -7C for much of northern England and Wales, nearer -2C on eastern coasts in the cloud.
Friday
A bitterly cold day on Friday with a fresh to strong northeast wind blowing across southern England. This is going to bring increasing cloud to eastern coasts and snow flurries in the afternoon here. Elsewhere it should be dry with good spells of sunshine, but that wind feels penetratingly cold. Highs will be at just -2C for many of us, around freezing on coasts.
Saturday
It stays bitterly cold for Saturday with a risk of snow flurries anywhere across England and Wales, although the highest risk always to the east. There could be another area of cloud and sleet moving into northern Scotland, this rapidly turning to snow as it heads south. Lighter winds in the north and so although cold, not feeling as desperately cold as in the south. The best of any sunshine in northwest England, west Wales and Ireland. Highs of -3 to 1C.
