Friday
Another bitterly cold and icy start to the morning over most of the country. There will be some snow showers around parts of East Anglia and more across northeast England. Further west a few snow flurries could affect the north and east of Wales with a few running through the Firth of Forth. For most of the country it will be fine and sunny, despite the cold. The threat of snow showers increases along eastern coasts through this afternoon, with some affecting Kent and East Sussex too. For most other parts it stays cold, but fine and sunny. Temperatures may not rise above -2C over the east of Wales, no higher than -9C in the Scottish Highland and around 4C at best in the far southwest of England.

Friday Night
By this evening there will be a noticeable increase in the wind speed over the southern half of the British Isles. This increases the wind chill, especially through southern England and Wales. After a clear start, cloud and some snow flurries will push west through the Midlands and southern England, although western parts of Wales and the far southwest of England stay dry. There is the possibility of 2cm of fresh snow falling through East Anglia and northeast England overnight. For much of northwest England, Scotland and Ireland it will be dry and clear. These clear skies and lighter winds allowing temperatures to fall to -20C over the Highlands, nearer -3 to -7C for much of the rest of the country. Very icy everywhere.

This brings a fair amount of cloud and snow flurries through much of England and eastern Wales. eastern areas always at risk of most of the snow and again a further 1 to 3cm could fall in the east. Clearer skies for Scotland and Northern Ireland so some good sunny spells here throughout. Highs near -1 or -2C for much of England, -10C in the Highlands and 3C in the southwest.

Sunday

There will be snow flurries throughout the day, again eastern areas most at risk,. but just about anywhere through England and Wales may see some. There is the possibility of some moderate bursts of snow which could give 1 to 5cm of snow. For Scotland and Ireland there will be drier weather with sunny spells, although still cold. Some snow showers for eastern Scotland. Highs near -3 to 2C but feeling much colder in the wind.
