Staying bitterly cold Strong northeast wind seiten=4 abk=focus

Saturday
A bitterly cold day to come over most of the British Isles. A fresh northeast wind will be blowing through most of England and Wales making it feel extremely cold here. Snow flurries will be affecting eastern coasts, but further west it should be dry with a few bright spells coming through. Some snow showers for western Scotland and Northern Ireland too. Little change is expected through this afternoon. There will be further flurries of snow on eastern coasts with more persistent snow againi affecting the Outer Hebrides. Elsewhere it should be dry although very cold. Highs of just -1 or -2C for many, nearer 0C on the coasts and perhaps to 3C in the far southwest of Cornwall.

Friday Night
Snow flurries push inland through the night to be affecting much of England and eastern Wales. There is the risk of a couple of centimetres of fresh snow falling just about anywhere through the night, but eastern coasts and eastern parts of Wales may see as much as 5cm. A bitterly cold northeast wind blowing through these areas as well. Cold across Scotland and Ireland, but dry. Lows near -1 to -5C for most, but -15C over the Scottish Highlands.

Sunday
Another bitterly cold day to come across all parts of the country. The strong east to northeast wind will be blowing through all areas bringing cloud and some snow flurries with it. Only the far north of Scotland and western Ireland seeing good spells of sunshine. Into the afternoon there is the threat of more persistent outbreaks of snow affecting eastern Wales, East Anglia and perhaps southern England, although only bringing 1 or 2cm additional snow. Highs at -1C to 3C.

Monday
The threat of some more persistent snow passing through southern England, the Midlands, Wales and into Ireland on Sunday night, bringing the risk of m5 tom 10cm of snow in places. Coupled with a strong east to northeast wind some drifting is likely. Through the day there will be further flurries of snow over much of the country, these focused through the Midlands, eastern and southern England. Probably drier for northern and western parts of Scotland. Highs at 0 to 2C.
