Friday
An area of rain in the west sweep eastward across much of the United Kingdom this morning and will be heavy across Wales. Northern England and western Scotland. As this moves into colder air, the rain may be freezing for a time and over the hills may fall as snow across northern England and Scotland before it changes to rain. This rain turns light and drizzly in the afternoon with the far south east essentially dry. Milder air spreads eastward on a strong south to south west wind with gales around western coasts. Expect highs of 1 to 3C but up to 8C across Cornwall. It will stay at freezing where the fog sticks the longest.

Friday Night
Heavy rain returns to Northern Ireland in the evening and spreads into Scotland, Wales and the western half of England. This then pushes into all but East Anglia and the south east in the night. Strong gales are expected with severe gales and gusts to 60 mph around western coasts tonight. A milder night than of late and with the rain, there is the potential for some flooding, especially across Wales. with lows of 5 to 9C.

Saturday
Still a very windy day today but the severe gales in the west will ease a bit by the afternoon. A wet morning but the rain clears to sunny spells and a few showers in the west while heavy rain across eastern England and eastern Scotland clears in the early afternoon. Showers in the west in the evening will fade with all parts to have a dry night with clear skies and some patchy mist as the winds fall light in the south. A mild day with highs of 7 to 11C.

Sunday
Apart from some rain in the north of Scotland, it's a fine, dry day to come across the United Kingdom with some good spells of sunshine. Still some light rain in the far north of Scotland into the evening and night. The bulk of Britain will remain dry under high pressure with clear spells allowing a light frost and some dense fog patches to develop by morning. Highs of 5 to 10C.
