Dull and murky Some bright spells later seiten=4 abk=focus

Monday
A rather cloudy start to the day over most of the country. There will be some outbreaks of rain and drizzle, mainly affecting Northern Ireland and northern England as well as the high ground of Wales. Brighter skies for the north of Scotland allowing some sunny spells to come through, and some more spells of sunshine for southern England. Still plenty of cloud around through this afternoon for most of us, but the cloud is going to be breaking. The best places for sunshine are likely to be mid-Wales, soputhern coasts of England and the northc oasts of Scotland. Still a few spots of drizzle in southern Scotland and northwest England. Highs of 7C in northern Scotland, 10C in southwest England.

Monday Night
Low cloud and some drizzle across western coasts of Scotland tonight. Increasing winds may bring some cloud and rain to southern Ireland. Elsewhere the nigh is going to be a dry one. It is going to become increasingly misty and murky with some fog patches in places, the thickest of these across more eastern areas. A slight frost through central and eastern parts with lows of 0 to -1C, nearer 5C on cloudier western coasts.

Tuesday
Cloud brings rain through Ireland this morning, turning heavier towards lunchtime. This area of cloud and rain reaches southwest Wales and the southwest of England through the day. More northern and eastern areas will have a misty start to the day. However, as the wind increases we should find the xmist and fog lifting leaving the day dry with some broken cloud and a few sunny spells. Gales are likely in ther west. Highs at 7 to 9C.

Wednesday
An area of rain will be edging very slowly eastwards through today, becoming heavy at times. As the rain comes up against colder air to the east there is a risk of it turning to sleet and snow. Most of this will be over higher ground, but a few flakes may make it to lower levels. Drier weather will eventually reach the west with the milder air here. The winds falling lighter and temperatures rising to 3 or 4C through most central and eastern areas, 10C in southwest England.
