Rain into SW Rain, sleet, snow Wednesday seiten=4 abk=focus

Tuesday
Quite a dull, grey and misty morning across England and Wales but mainly dry except for some patchy bits of drizzle, chiefly over high ground. A colder morning across Scotland with some locally dense patches of fog and freezing fog. These may take some time to clear otherwise dry with sunny spells. In the afternoon a lot of cloud across England and Wales and later some rain edges into the far south west of Wales and into Cornwall and Devon. A few sunnier spells may develop across East Anglia and the south east. Becoming breezy everywhere but windy in the south west with highs of 4 to 10C.

Tuesday Night
In the evening and area of moderate to heavy rain will affect Northern Ireland, Wales and south west England and windy as well. Elsewhere it stays dry. Then overnight that area of rain hits colder air and moves into the Midlands and the south of England with a risk of rain, sleet and snow developing, some accumulation likely, but could be just over the hills. To the north it becomes cloudy but overnight stays mainly dry. Expect lows of 1 to 5C.

Wednesday
A cloudy, colder day to come today with some light snow expected across Scotland and northern England. For Wales and central and southern England we should have a mixture of rain, sleet and snow with some snow mainly on higher ground but perhaps not exclusively so. Much of this tends to die away during the evening then rather dull and misty overnight with some locally dense fog. It becomes windy across Northern Ireland with some rain before morning. Highs of 2 to 4C but up to 7C in the south west.

Thursday
It becomes very windy today as south west winds gust to gale force in the west. This spreads outbreaks of rain in from the west into all parts on the afternoon. This will be preceded by some snow Scotland and northern England for a time and may be heavy across northern Scotland. A very wet and windy evening and night for much of Britain with spells of heavy rain for many though it becomes dry across Northern Ireland. Temperatures will rise late in the day with highs initially of 2 to 9C.
