Thursday
A fine and chilly start to the morning through much of the country. There will be some cloud pushing into Ireland and Scotland, with rain affecting northwest Scotland. Into this afternoon much of England and Wales will be dry with more spells of sunshine, the best of them over East Anglia and southeast England. Thicker cloud through western and northern areas, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading to northwest England and Wales. More persistent rain arriving in northwest Scotland and Northern Ireland. The rain turning to snow on the hills in the north. Highs of 3 to 7C and feeling cold in the wind.
Thursday Night
A wet night to come through much of the country. An area of rain will be passing southwards through all parts, some of it heavy on the hills in the north. Here the rain may well be falling as snow. Most of the rain should clear southern and southeastern England by daybreak. Following will be some clearer skies into Scotland, and it will be windy here too. Wintry showers through Scotland and northern Ireland. Lows of -3C in central Scotland, 5C in southwest England.
Friday
Some rain or sleet in the south of England this morning, snow on the hills. This clears southwards and then all areas are going to be cold with some sunny spells and a stiff northwest wind. Snow showers will be running onto the coasts of Scotland, a few of them heavy in the afternoon. An area of snow showers may well develop through the Irish Sea in the afternoon, these merging to a longer spells of snow which may affect northwestern and central parts of Wales. A bitterly cold day with temperature struggling above freezing over much of northern England and Scotland, 4C in southwest England.
Saturday
Another cold day to come on Saturday. The stiff northwest wind will be giving snow showers around the coasts (except the south). There will be sunny spells with the most frequent of the snow showers over western coasts of Scotland, England and Wales in the morning. A tendency for the showers to become more scattered in the afternoon, very few affecting inland areas. Highs at 1 to 5C.
