Becoming sunnier Dry for most seiten=4 abk=focus

Thursday
Rather a cloudy and breezy start to the day across Wales and the southern half of England and Ireland. It should be dry, but will be feeling cold in the wind. A gradual improvement through the morning with the cloud breaking and sunny spells forming, although it could stay cloudier to the south. The best of the sunshine today across northern England and the northern half of Ireland. Here it will be dry, and this sunshine should extend south into Wales and the Midlands as well as East Anglia. Western and northern Scotland look more cloudy with some spots of rain on the hills, but drier to the east and south. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, 8C in southwest England.

Thursday Night
A widespread and hard frost overnight into Friday as the skies become much clearer over most of the United Kingdom. There could be some cloud affecting more eastern parts of the country and this may bring a few snow flurries to the extreme east of Kent later in the night. Thicker cloud across the far north of Scotland too bringing some showers to Orkney and Shetland. However, it is the frost which will be the main story with temperatures at -6C in mid Wales, central Scotland and northern England, nearer 2C around the coasts.

Friday
A fine and cold start to Friday morning. There could be a few mist patches in more sheltered areas, but these rapidly clearing. The morning will then be fair for most of England, Wales, Ireland and southern Scotland with plenty of sunshine. Thicker cloud across northern and central Scotland with some patchy rain affecting northern coasts. Little change for the afternoon with the cloud increasingly drifting south, although still some good spells of sunshine across most of southern England, Wales and Ireland. Hazier sunshine to the north but dry. Further patchy rain in northern Scotland. Highs at 6 to 9C.

Saturday
A cloudier day across northern and eastern parts of the country on Saturday. There could be some drizzle on the tops of the Scottish Hills and Pennines. Further south and west there will be some breaks in the cloud which will allow a few bright or sunny spells to come through the cloud. A brisk westerly wind across northern Scotland, but drier to the south. Temperatures at 7 to 10C.
