Heavy rain in south Drier to the north seiten=4 abk=focus

Wednesday
A fine start to the day across much of northern England and eastern Scotland, as well as Northern Ireland. Here there will be some good spells of sunshine. These lasting into the afternoon, although there will be an increase in cloud across northern England. For western Scotland showers will be affecting the areas throughout the day and some of them may be heavy. For more southern parts of England and Wales it will be a cloudier morning. Rain into the southwest will be turning heavy as it tracks through the area and this will be lasting for most of the afternoon. The winds increasing across England and Wales too. Highs near 20C in the sunshine across northern England, but just 12C in the rain through southern parts of Wales.

Wednesday Night
A cloudy and wet evening for England and Wales. Still some heavy bursts of rain left around the southeast of the country, these lasting until the morning when it stays cloudy and drizzly. Drier weather should slowly edge in from the west through the night, affecting much of Wales, southwest and central England by the early hours. Cloudy and generally dry for northern England with some clear spells through Scotland and Ireland. Lows near a very chilly 2C in the Highlands of Scotland where a ground frost is possible, nearer 14C in southern England.

Thursday
It may take some time for cloud and drizzly outbreaks of rain to clear from southeast England, perhaps as late as Thursday afternoon. Quite a windy morning too, and again the winds not easing until evening. For the rest of the country the day is going to be brighter. Sunny spells will be developing, the best of these always in more western and northern areas. It should be generally dry, although a few showers cannot be ruled out on western coasts and hills. Highs of 16 to 19C.

Friday
There could still be some remnants of low cloud and spots of rain affecting the far southeast of Kent even on Friday morning. For the rest of the country it should be a brighter day. There will be some good spells of sunshine around, the best of them through central and northern areas. A few showers forming in the afternoon for northern and western Scotland, and the hills of Northern Ireland and the Pennines could trigger an odd one too. Dry for many though with tops at 17 to 21C.
