Bitterly cold for all Snow showers seiten=4 abk=focus

Thursday
A cold start to the day across all parts of the country. There will be some cloud affecting eastern coasts and perhaps drifting into East Anglia and through the eastern Midlands. Some snow showers too along the eastern coasts with sleet over southeastern England. Further west through Wales, most of southwest England and much of Scotland and Ireland the morning will be dry, cold and sunny. There is a risk of some wintry showers for the far west of Cornwall. The afternoon sees sunny spells and wintry showers across eastern parts of Scotland and England, the chance of some heavier rain and sleet across Kent, eastern Suffolk and eastern Essex this turning increasingly wintry. A few showers for northwest Scotland too but elsewhere the afternoon is going to be dry with plenty of sunshine, although staying cold. Highs of 0C in central Scotland, 5C in southern England.

Thursday Night
A widespread frost forming quickly on Thursday evening. Most of England and Wales will be dry throughout the night, the frost becoming severe in the west. Snow showers will continue throughout along eastern coasts with cloud and some more persistent rain over Ireland. Northern Scotland will have an area of snow through the evening, this moving south in the early hours to be across southern Scotland and the far north of England by the morning. Lows of -1 to -5C.

Friday
Friday morning sees a band of snow moving south through northern England, possibly bringing a covering of snow even at low levels. This area of snow moves into Wales and the north Midlands through the afternoon and evening, turning heavy at times and bringing several centimetres of snow over high ground. Following through Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland will be cold weather but some sunshine, and a few snow showers. An area of rain will be affecting southwest England and west Wales throughout the day, this becoming wintry and turning to snow as it becomes heavier in the evening. Highs of -2C in central Scotland, 5C in the far southwest of England.

Saturday
Snowfall is likely across Cornwall and northeast England on Saturday morning leading to fresh accumulations. The areas of snow persist into the afternoon, although tending to turn more sleety across Cornwall. Northeast England may be feeling particularly raw with the snow drifting in the strong northeast wind. More snow showers across northern Scotland. Elsewhere it should be dry with sunny spells but feeling bitterly cold. Temperatures struggling to -3C in central Scotland, 1C in southern England.
