Friday
A very cold and frosty start across Britain. Outbreaks of snow are expected across North Wales, northern England and northern Scotland and this spreads into all of Wales in the afternoon turning heavy. Scattered snow showers are forecast across Northern Ireland and eastern parts of England while central areas are mainly fair and dry with bright spells. A milder across south west England with rain. Expect highs of 1 to 5C.

Friday Night
Through the evening and night it's looking unsettled, very cold and wintry with outbreaks of snow or snow showers across much of Britain but mostly dry across East Anglia and south east England. The snow may be heaviest in the south west. Widespread icy conditions are also possible tonight with lows falling to 0 to -6C.

Saturday
A strong, raw north east wind develops today and this will be very strong across Scotland. Outbreaks of snow are possible across south west England and Scotland but this fades in the afternoon. A few snow showers may affect North Sea and Irish Sea coasts. Most central areas will be dry and sunny. Heavy snow showers are expected across eastern parts of England and Scotland. The rest of Britain should be dry and clear with a widespread and severe frost. Highs of 0 to 4C but feeling well below freezing in the wind.

Sunday
A stiff north east wind brings lots of cloud into eastern and central parts of Britain along with a number of snow showers and spells of snow. A few snow showers too across Northern Ireland. Across the The West Country and western Wales and western Scotland it should be dry with the best of the sunshine. Another very cold, frosty night with ice patches and snow showers around eastern coasts. Highs of 0 to 3C.
