Wednesday
A fair start to the morning across the southeast quarter of the country. A few bright or sunny spells here, although the cloud tending to increase as the morning progresse, the wind picking up too. A band of cloud and rain will be passing through Scotland and Ireland, some of the rain heavy over western facing hills. Into the afternoon the rain crosses northern England amd Wales as well as southwest England, the rain band eventually reaching East Anglia and central southern England by the evening. Drier weather follows to the north and west, although there will be some heavy showers in western Scotland. A windy day through many areas with gales in the west and north. Highs at 7 to 10C.

Wednesday Night
The area of rain affects southeastern England at first this evening. This will be clearing away into the continent after midnight, almost all of England and Wales then dry with clear skies, although breezy in the north. A few showers are possible on the west coasts of Wales and northwest England. A windier night over Scotland where there will be frequent snow showers on western coasts and hills, with some showers through western and southern Ireland too. Lows at -3C in central Scotland, 1C over much of central England.

Thursday
A windy day to come on Thursday across the northern half of the country. Cloud will be at its thickest on western coasts of Wales, northwest England, western Scotland and the north and west of Ireland. There will be outbreaks of rain here, these turnign more persistent over western Ireland and Scotland, where the rain will be turning to snow. Drier weather for eastern Scotland and most of England and eastern Wales. Highs will be near 4C in northern Scotland, 10C in southwest England.

Friday
A mild and breezy day to come across the country as a southwesterly flow brings warmer temperatures but also plenty of cloud off the Atlantic. A largely cloudy day across southern and western coasts. There will be low cloud here with drizzle at times, and the threat of some more persistent rain on windward facing slopes. The rain could be heavy across western and southern Scotland where it could turn to snow on the hills. More eastern parts of England and Wales should be drier and there could be an odd bright spell here too. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 11C in southern England.
