Patchy rain heads east Fair to the west seiten=4 abk=focus

Friday
A cloudy start to the day for most parts of the country. There will be a fair amount of mist and some fog affecting parts of the west and north. A band of rain moves eastwards through Ireland during the morning, reaching the east coast by late morning. The UK should be generally dry although outbreaks of rain will be arriving on western coasts of the country by lunchtime. Through the afternoon the area of rain will be passing east across Scotland, Wales and England, most of it being only light and patchy and affecting western areas. Drier weather should move into Ireland through the day and it will become brighter too. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, 11C in southern England.

Friday Night
An area of rain will be affecting eastern parts of the country tonight. This rain should clear into the North Sea through the early hours, with drier weather following from the west. Skies will become clearer as the drier weather arrives. Mist and fog patches will be forming through more sheltered areas. Lows near 2 to 5C, although down to 0C in Ireland.

Saturday
A much brighter day for Saturday as a ridge of high pressure builds across the country. Morning mist and fog patches will be clearing and then the morning should be fine and sunny for most. An area of showers affects northwest Scotland, but elsewhere it should be dry. Little change for the afternoon with more sunshine to come and the showers should fade in Scotland too. Winds will be increasing across Ireland through the day, with cloud and rain arriving in the west later. Highs at 5 to 10C.

Sunday
An area of strong winds and rain will be sweeping eastwards across the country through the early part of Sunday. Rain could be heavy in places, and the winds will be gusting in excess of gale force as the rain arrives. That rain band becomes lighter and more patchy as it heads east, but then drier weather arrives from the west during the afternoon. This brings the best of any sunshine across Ireland and western parts of Scotland and Wales. Highs at 5 to 9C.
