Thursday
A cold day on Thursday with the wind a brisk easterly. There will be plenty of cloud around and also some outbreaks of rain through Wales, northwest England, eastern Ireland and southwest Scotland. More eastern and southern areas should stay drier and there could be a few breaks developing in the cloud, allowing a few bright or sunny spells to come through. Sunny spells for much of the rest of Scotland this morning, but the cloud tending to increase in the afternoon as rain spreads into more central areas. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, 10C in southern England.

Thursday Night
A damp night across much of Scotland and northern England. Most of the rain will only be light, but some more persistent rain could occur on the hills, this turning to snow across the Southern Uplands and central Scotland. Drier weather for more eastern and southern parts of England as well as much of Wales. Cloud will break here and there with clear spells forming, and where these occur a frost is likely to form. Further broken cloud in Ireland where it should be dry. Lows near 0C under the clearer skies, nearer 5C on western coasts.

Friday
A damp and cool morning to come across Scotland and northern England. The rain should be light overall with low cloud shrouding the hills. There could be some snow over the Grampians with more persistent rain affecting eastern parts of Scotland. A further area of rain with stronger winds moving into western Ireland. This area of rain and stronger winds move through Ireland and into southwest England as well as Wales later. Some spots of rain in eastern Scotland and northeast England. Fair for more central and southeastern parts of England. Highs at 5 to 10C.

Saturday
Persistent rain across northern and eastern Scotland as well as eastern England on Saturday morning. Snow may affect the Grampians and Highlands with blizzard conditions here. The rain should slowly clear from eastern England in the afternoon, although eastern and northern Scotland may stay wet throughout. Drier weather across much of Ireland, Wales and western England, just a low chance of a shower on the coasts. Some bright or sunny spells breaking through the cloud. Highs at 3C in northern Scotland, 11C in southwest England.
