Cold, wet and windy Better north & west seiten=4 abk=focus
Sunday
An area of low pressure is going to bring the first heavy rain in several weeks to the southern half of England through Sunday. Much of the Midlands, eastern and southern England will have rain through the day, this steadily becoming more persistent and then heavy at times. There is the chance of the rain turning to snow on the Welsh Hills, and then through higher ground elsewhere. There could even be some snow at lower levels in the Midlands and southern England in the afternoon. Further north it is brighter with some sunny spells for much of northwest England, Scotland and Ireland. There will be some showers on western coasts though, these falling as snow on the hills. A much colder day for all with a strong wind developing across England and eastern Wales. Highs at just 2C in some parts of the Midlands, more typically 3 to 6C.
Sunday Night
A wet, cold and windy night to come across eastern England. There will be some heavy bursts of rain in the East Midlands, East Anglia and across the southeast with this falling as wet snow at times; a covering is likely on high ground. Elsewhere the night becomes drier with clearing skies. As the winds fall lighter temperatures will be dropping to -2C in some rural places, 0C for most. Ice may be a problem so roads and pavements may become slippery.
Monday
East Anglia and the southeast may again see rain, sleet and even some wet snow as well as strong winds. Feeling cold here through the day too, although the rain should finally clear eastern coasts in the afternoon. A brighter day for the rest of England and Wales with some good spells of sunshine. Showers for the north and west of Scotland, and for much of Ireland, although these tending to be isolated. Highs at 3C in any rain in the east, nearer 6 to 8C in the north and west.
Tuesday
There could be some rain returning to the east coasts of Norfolk, Suffolk and Kent on Tuesday, but this should clear away by the afternoon. A ridge of high pressure then affects most of England and Wales bringing dry conditions and some sunny spells. Eastern Scotland should stay dry, although the winds will be increasing. A front approaches western Ireland and western Scotland on Tuesday afternoon bringing rain. Highs at 7 to 9C.
