Rain Clearing Southeast Colder Tonight seiten=4 abk=focus

Wednesday
A very windy day to come across the country with an area of gales across northeast England into Wales spreading into the southeast in the afternoon. A very wet start across much of England and Wales, but as we go through the morning most of the rain clears probably all but Kent. This will be followed by an afternoon of sunny spells, cloud and some blustery showers as the last of the rain clears the extreme southeast early this afternoon. The showers may turning increasingly wintry across Scotland with a few over the northern Pennines and the high ground of North Wales. Expect maximum temperatures in a range of 6 to 11 Celsius but feeling colder in the brisk winds.

Wednesday night
Continued quite windy through the evening and night. Lots of snow showers to come across parts of Scotland this evening but during the night they tend to become confined to the far northwest. For England and Wales it will be dry this evening and dry over night with clear spells. Rather cold tonight but with the brisk winds, most of the frost should be confined to well sheltered locations. Temperatures falling to 1 to 4 Celsius.

Thursday
After windy morning, the winds will tend to moderate in the afternoon. Most parts of the country will have a fair, dry morning with sunny spells with just the odd shower across the eastern parts of England. In the afternoon, some rain will move into western Scotland, Northern Ireland and Cumbria. Otherwise continued fair and dry across the rest of England and Wales with variable cloud and sunnier intervals. Gales again develop across the north of Scotland as outbreaks of rain spread into much of Scotland, the far north west of England and perhaps into North Wales while it stays dry to the south. Expect top temperatures today of 8 to 11 Celsius.

Friday
Very windy across the northern half of the country today. A front is expected to bring outbreaks of rain to Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwest England, Wales and the south west of England. Much of this looks quite light, although some heavier bursts will affect northwest Scotland. Central and eastern parts of England will be fair and dry with a few sunny spells but generally expect quite a bit of cloud. It will be a mild night, otherwise expect little overall change across Britain. Expect maximum temperatures of 10 to 13 Celsius.
