Thursday
A dry and fine day throughout Thursday with light winds. Some mist and fog to start the day, which may be locally quite dense. Most of the UK and Ireland will see bright and sunny spells, with northern and eastern parts of England seeing the best of the sunshine during the day. Generally more cloud for Wales, western Scotland and south-west England. Increasing amounts of cloud affect southern and south-western regions during the afternoon and into the evening, with outbreaks of rain in south-west England becoming persistent during the evening. Highs 10 to 13C in Scotland and northern England, and still pleasantly mild again in central and southern areas, with highs 14 to 18C.
Thursday night
Rain spreads quickly northwards overnight, along with strengthening south-westerly winds. Some heavy falls of rain in Wales and south-west England plus eastern parts of Ireland, although lighter and patchier in central and eastern England. Scotland should remain mostly dry overnight, with increasing cloud from the south-west. Rain arrives in southern Scotland around dawn. Lows 3 to 5C in Scotland, 7 to 10C in England and Wales, and tending rise through the night.
Friday
The worst of the overnight rain should clear much of England and Wales by Friday morning, leaving just patchy rain and showers. Scotland starts wet and continues to see persistent outbreaks of rain throughout Friday. Some squally showers will continue to affect western Wales and south-west England through the afternoon, plus a few showers along Channel coasts. The Midlands, northern and eastern England stays fairly dry through the afternoon, with a some sunny spells trying to break through. A brisk south-westerly breeze for all areas throughout the day but staying very mild. Highs 14 to 17C.
Saturday
Saturday will start on a bright and breezy note across the UK and Ireland, with some showery rain for western coasts. Fronts approaching from the Atlantic results in thickening clouds from the west throughout the day. Rain spreads eastwards across Ireland during the morning. This rain spreads into western Scotland, north-west England and Wales by the afternoon, becoming heavy and persistent. However, it should remain dry until the evening for the Midlands, eastern and south-eastern England. Highs 9 to 12C in the north, 13 to 16C in the south.
