Wednesday
A cold start to the day for most of the country with some fog patches through central and southern England, although these clearing. It will then be dry with sunny spells throughout the day across most of England and Wales. Increasing cloud will be bringing rain through western Scotland and into the west of Northern Ireland by midday, but then this edging east in the afternoon and becoming heavy in western Scotland. The rain reaching northwest England and Wales by this evening. Becoming windy in Scotland and Ireland. Highs at 7 to 11C.

Wednesday night
A windier night for all with a band of showery rain clearing to the east during the night. Heavy showers following into northern and western Scotland as well as western England and Wales. These showers turning to snow over the hills of Scotland. Severe gales in western Scotland with widespread gales in northern and western parts. Lows at 4 to 7C.

Thursday
Low pressure to the north of Scotland will be clearing eastwards on Thursday morning as a ridge of high pressure builds from the west. Winds turning to the nnorthwest with some rain affecting the east at first. Brighter weather then follows from the west bringing a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers wintry on the hills in th north. Highs at 6 to 9C.

Friday
A ridge of hgih pressure extends through Ireland, England and Wales on Friday. It is likely to be a dry day for these areas with sunny spells and dry weather. There could be some morning fog patches, although these clearing away. Bright and dry too for much of Scotland, although soem cloud and spots of rain in the northwest of Scotland where there could be gales too. Highs at 7 to 10C.
